While many folks believe and quote “education is the key to success,” it’s safe to say a lot of celebrities and successful people believe the same. Hip-hop icon Sean Combs has efficiently laid a solid foundation for the growth of his many accomplishments. Flourishing in the music industry, owning his own Vodka, and earning an honorary degree from Howard University, Diddy is continuing on his long road of success and this time around, he is investing in a huge key to success: education.
Back in 2011, the Ciroc mogul steered the creation and floor plans for Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School, which will replicate a very prestigious school in Hartford. The El Museao del Barrio and the Museum of the City of New York were chosen to house the institution where big names such as Steve Perry will act as overseer, Danita Jones as Principal, and Iyanla Vanzant & Reverend Georgiette Morgan-Thomas will partake as active board members. Since the school is designed to cater to grades 6-12 and will provide year-round college preparatory education, it was mandatory to seek approval from the Board of Regents, which it did in 2014. While the school is scheduled to open this fall, the application deadline is April 1st.
Diddy expressed his exhilaration being able to successfully execute this idea. He reportedly referred to it as a “dream come true” and now he is helping other young people bring their dreams to pass too.
It’s so great to see him giving back in such a huge way!
