Spring is in the air and warmer months mean blooming flowers! We’re sharing 4 DIY floral projects to bring the season’s flowers inside with minimal the stress and on a budget.
The Floral Frame
Purchase foam core board and artificial flowers from your local craft or dollar store. Remove the flower heads and glue them to the foam core board. When the board is covered in flowers, top with letters in the phrase of your choice (SPRING, HAPPY, LOVE, FAMILY, etc.) For a streamlined appearance, consider using flowers in the same color family.
The Group Blooms
To achieve this arrangement, purchase bottles and vases in the same color family. It’s easiest if you purchase bloom vases (small enough to hold 1-3 flowers). Vary the vase heights and use an odd number of vases for visual interest.
The Floral Pomander
Purchase Styrofoam balls in varying sizes and artificial flowers from our local craft store. Remove the flower heads from stems and adhere them to the Styrofoam balls. Place them on top of candle stick, directly on your tabletop surface, or in a box.
The Live Arrangement
Here are a few tips to take your live arrangements to the next level!
- Use more greenery and filler flowers. Don’t worry with splurging on the expensive blooms only! Use leaves and berries to give your arrangements a professional look.
- Use what you have. Don’t worry with purchasing a vase! Use your jars, coffee cups and small buckets to create a unique and beautiful arrangement!
- Treat your arrangement like a bouquet. Start with one bloom in your hand and add the colors you need, adjusting the position as you go. When you’ve achieved the look you want, trim and wrap the bouquet with a rubber band to keep it in place. This technique will ensure your arrangement keeps its shape!
Nothing feels fresher than a beautiful arrangement. With a few minutes, a few dollars and a few supplies, you can bring the sunshine of the season indoors and update your space to feel more inviting!
