BET’s Black Girls Rock event took place on Friday, April 1st, and you won’t believe who took the stage to say a few words. Presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, made a surprise appearance. Reportedly, Clinton came out to a welcoming, cheering crowd. The politian was there to introduce Beverly Bond, who is the founder of Black Girls Rock.

During her speech, Clinton referred to black women as “change makers, path makers and ground shakers.”

She continued: “There are still a lot of barriers holding back African Americans and black women in particular, so a gathering like this filled with so many powerful, strong women is a rebuke to every single one of those barriers,” Clinton said. “All of our kids, no matter what zip code they live in, deserve a good teacher and a good school, a safe community and clean water to drink.”

Although the crowd seemed receptive to what Hillary had to say, #BlackTwitter wasn’t here for it. People were saying that Hillary is “full of it” and begged people not to fall for the hype. Others were asking since when has Hillary Clinton ever cared about black women?

#BlackTwitter definitely let Hillary have it!

In other news, Rihanna was also present at the event and rumor has it that she slayed, as always. Amongst other honorees is the ever so talented Miss Shonda Rhimes who is the brain behind some of our favorite shows like “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder.” It sounds like the show was filled with memorable moments, and we can’t wait to watch! The show was filmed in Newark, New Jersey and will air to the public Tuesday, April 5th, at 8pm on BET and Centric.
