The 64th Annual Miss USA Pageant airs this summer, June 5th on FOX. From winning their states, preparing for Miss USA, to eventually becoming Miss. Universe, these ladies have journeyed down a road that may look pretty but have had some pretty ugly pit-stops. Let’s meet some black girls who will be rocking this year’s Miss USA pageant.
MISS DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
Deshauna Barber, 26, is a graduate of Virginia State University, majoring in Business Management. She currently works for the U.S. Department of Commerce as an IT Analyst. She serves in the Army in the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit at Fort Meade, Maryland. She is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho and enjoys hiking and time with family.
Emanii Davis, 22, is a motivated senior at Valdosta State University and plans to graduate majoring in Communications with an emphasis in intercultural organization. Since winning her Miss Georgia crown, she started her own program advocating education as well as partnering with major companies like Chick-Fil-A.
Victoria Wiggins, 26, was taught early the importance of giving back and is involved in multiple charities. Graduating from Lindenwood University with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management, she plans to own her own boutique. She has worked as a runway model for the past 10 years.
Maaliayh Papillion, 21, aims to be a Psychologist and currently sits on the board of the Southwest Louisiana International Club which aides new international citizens in their new surroundings and provides help with jobs and legal documentation. She is passionate about what she believes and is an avid traveler.
MISS NEW MEXICO
Naomie Germain, 22, is from an immigrant family who moved to the U.S. in 1992. She is majoring in Political Science at the University of New Mexico and is a member of Emerge New Mexico. She enjoys cooking and cooking shows, yoga and DIY projects.
Natriana Shorter, 25, is currently working on her degree in Business Management and Leadership. he dedicates her time to Get SMART Oregon Organization and has started her own program since winning her state’s crown. She likes to plays sports and make snapchat videos.
Dr. Desi Williams, 26, holds a bachelors and a doctorate from Hampton University, majoring in Health & Physical Education with a minor in Leadership, as well as Physical Therapy. She currently works at her alma mater and has authored and published her own book.
