Nothing is more discouraging than seeing a new foundation or product put out by a brand and not finding a color to match you skin tone. Finding foundation for darker complexions is like finding a needle in a haystack. The sad reality is that there are not a lot of brands that actually offer a large selection for women with darker skin tones. Fortunately though, there are a few brands that have a large spectrum for women whose melanin is popping.

Becca Cosmetics, though expensive, has a variety of foundation colors. Their “Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème” features 20 shades. Their darkest shade name is “Cacao” and will be perfect for women with the darkest complexions.

Nars is another brand that holds it down for darker skinned women. Though there are not a lot of shades within their foundations, there are a lot of darker shades that can be mixed with lighter ones if need be.

The CoverGirl Queen collection is a drug store holy grail for women of color. The “All Day Flawless Foundation” has 14 shades that are all geared to dark skin stones so you won’t have to worry about feeling excluded while shopping for foundation.

Lancôme partnered with Lupita Nyongo as their first African American brand ambassador. Their foundations have more than 20 different shades that will work for an array of skin tones. Their “Dual Finish” foundation will give you everything you need for a light coverage.

MAC is a personal favorite of mine because their color range is impressive. MAC has 35 shades in their “Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15” foundation. Their lightest shade numbering is 3.5 and their darkest is 58, so that gives you some insight on how many skin tones they fit.

With the slightly more expensive brands, and affordable ones, these brands will have all women of color covered.
