A Different World is undeniably one of the greatest sitcoms of our lifetime. Not only did it tackle social issues, but it showed how absolutely fly black people are and unapologetically so. I can remember watching the show as a youngin’ thinking, “I wanna dress like Denise Huxtable and Whitley Gilbert when I grow up!” The other amazing thing about the show was its timelessness. No matter the decade, it is still relevant. So let’s take a look at some of our favorite fashion moments from this incredible series….
A Different World style like Denise Huxtable
Lisa Bonet as Denise Huxtable was the best thing to happen to little black girls. She was the epitome of carefree, black girl magic. From her free flowing blouses to her flawless accessories.
A Different World Style life D’Wayne Wayne
D’Wayne Wayne had a style like no other. It took some time to get used to it, but after a while you appreciated his willingness to take chances. This bomber jacket is the perfect example of timeless style. We would rock this jacket in so many ways!
A Different World Style like Freddie Brooks
Freddie was annoying at times but we loved her “Power to the People” mentality. It also showed in her style because she was always donning African prints with her beautifully coiled, natural hair.
A Different World style like Whitley Gilbert
Whitley Gilbert was the ultimate southern belle. That same southern twang could also be seen in her perfectly tailored outfits. She could rock anything!
