Kids love this time of the year. It’s the only holiday they can stuff their faces with all the candy they want (well not all they want lol). Halloween wouldn’t be complete unless you are watching a scary movie or reading a spooky story. To get your kids ready for the spookiest holiday, here are eight movies and stories that will get your child get in the spooktacular holiday spirit!

Clifford’s Halloween

Clifford is everyone’s favorite red dog! Halloween is Clifford and his cute owner Emily’s favorite Holiday. They play games, trick-or-treat in the neighborhood, and tell ghost stories. Best of all, they can wear costumes! Clown, witch, knight, or ghost-what will Clifford decide to dress up as this year? Kids will like this story, may even get some ideas for their costumes.

The Berenstein Bears Trick or Treat

The Berenstein Bears is another classic, and if you haven’t heard of the Berenstein Bears, it’s book that will be a staple in your household. This book is a great Halloween story for kids. It’s Halloween, and Brother and Sister can’t wait to go trick-or-treating with all of their friends. A child in the group encourages the kids to play a trick,  but things don’t go as planned. Parents enjoy this book because it accompanies a message of knowing the difference between right from wrong.

Tweens will enjoy Harry Potter. It’s a story about a young wizard named Harry Potter, his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. The main story chronicles Harry’s struggle against Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who intends to become immortal, overthrow the wizard governing body known as the Ministry of Magic, and subjugate all wizards and Muggles. This book series will give your tweens tons of costume ideas and spark their imagination.

If you are a fan of Pooh Bear and his crew, you will love the film. It’s the perfect movie for preschoolers. It’s all about Halloween adventure in Hundred Acre Wood. Everyone is excited to Trick or Treat. Pooh eat’s all the Halloween candy (oh pooh!). Roo and Lumpy are off on a quest to capture a scary Gobloon who will grant their wish for more. Your child will enjoy this movie. It is more sweet than scary and you will enjoy this with your little one.

Charlie Brown is a staple in every household. Every holiday you know a Charlie Brown special will be on your tv. Halloween is no exception. This is the story is about The PEANUTS gang celebrating Halloween. Linus hopes he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party. This movie is enduring, and you will be rooting for Linus to meet the Great Pumpkin. Not scary to watch yet it’s something the whole family can enjoy together.

Who doesn’t love the friendly ghost? Casper is a kind, young ghost who peacefully haunts a mansion in Maine. When specialist James Harvey arrives to communicate with Casper and his fellow spirits, he brings along his teenage daughter, Kat along. Casper is in love with Kat. It’s an endearing story of love, friendship with a spooky twist.


This is classic story remake of the 1984 blockbuster. Kids of all ages will love this movie because it merges the supernatural and technology in a high-tech battle. They stumble upon a gateway to another dimension, a doorway that will release evil upon the city. The Ghostbusters must now save New York from complete destruction.
