Live from the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel, the 73rd Annual Golden Globes Awards aired last night on NBC, hosted by the ever-controversial Ricky Gervais.  He wasted no time getting to the jokes, starting off the night immediately telling everyone to “shut up” and pointing out how Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce Jenner) has done nothing for female drivers.  It’s safe to say, the elephant in the room didn’t stay long.

Highlights of the evening include Denzel Washington being presented with the Cecil B. Demille Award from his fellow thespian Tom Hanks, acknowledging his extraordinary career as the holder of 3 Golden Globes and 2 Academy awards.  Jamie Foxx, who jokingly announced the wrong winner during his presentation, repeatedly shouted out his brothers Denzel and Will Smith, leaving no question to whom he was rooting for that evening.

Stephanie Germanotta (better known as Lady Gaga) won Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Show for American Horror Story: Hotel.  She shared with the audience that even though music happened first, acting has always been her first love.

Sylvester Stallone won Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in Creed, but caused a social media tantrum from fellow actors and directors for forgetting to thank key players in the film, Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler.

Taraji P. Henson, winning for her role as Cookie Lyon in FOX’s hit show Empire, is now the third African American woman to win Best Actress in a TV Series- Drama at the Golden Globes.  She single-handedly gave the best speech of the night when refusing to be wrapped up during her speech.  “I waited 20 years for this, you gone wait!

Other big winners include Leonardo DiCaprio who won Best Actor in a Motion Picture for Reverent and his former co-star Kate Winslet won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for Steve Jobs.

It was a star-studded evening full of emotional speeches and hilarious facial expressions soon to be seen on a meme near you.  Congrats to all the winners!  Stay tuned for more updates on award season.
